Upgrading equipment

My son has been playing Hollow Knight. As with most of his games, the bosses get harder to beat the longer he plays. A couple weeks ago he was struggling with one of these boss fights because he hadn’t yet upgraded his weapon. He got clobbered over, and over, and over again.

His equipment wasn’t adequate for the level of competition.

We see this with some of our clients. That logo or website that has lasted 7, 12, or 18 years seems relevant now, but only because it’s familiar. As their business has grown and begun competing with larger and more sophisticated companies, their equipment hasn’t kept up. It's making it harder to win.

Make sure you don’t fall into this trap. Branding isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it kind of thing—each component’s usefulness and relevance will change over time. So, whether it’s with us or with someone else, take some time to evaluate what’s working and what’s not. Find out if you’re getting clobbered so you can avoid a ‘game over.’

Thanks for reading.
